There are many people today who talk about
search engine optimization as if it's a big
secret. There are techniques that you are
probably not aware of, so they are search
engine optimization secrets to you. However,
many things you can do to optimize your website
can be found by visiting Google and reading
their guidelines for webmaster's.
If you are thinking about hiring someone to
do search engine optimization for you, you
should take the time to learn about those
guidelines. It is just as important to
understand how to avoid falling for the
unhealthy SEO techniques as it is to understand
how to properly obtain a good search engine
listing.
If you don't know what the guidelines are,

them a secret to the general public. Search
engine optimization is a little bit like that.
There are a great deal of things you can learn
simply by reading Google's search engine
guidelines. However, other SEO techniques are a
little more guarded. Some people pay thousands
of dollars to obtain this information. It is
not all free. So, in a sense, yes, some things
within the world of SEO are secrets.
Even when you read the guidelines on how to
properly set up your website, search engine
optimization can be very frustrating because
sometimes no matter how much you stick to those
guidelines you still find your website failing
to gain search engine traffic.
It can take months to get the search engines
to pay attention to your new website and list
it. So, when someone else is able to get their
website listed in a matter of days it only
makes the matter worse knowing that there IS a
way to do it, but you are not privy to that
information.
Learning how to build your Internet
visibility through the search engines like
Google takes a lot of time. I've personally
built up my knowledge of SEO over the past 9
years through trial and error. I've also
paid thousands of dollars to learn these
special techniques and secrets in order to gain
visibility for my own websites and the websites
I've built for others.
